This interactive lecture is called Mind Matters. Your mind matters because through your thoughts, emotions and convictions it is able to have strong biological effects on your body, as you’ll discover. A positive mindset protects your health, while a negative mindset damages your health and wellbeing.
In this lecture, Pascale Bruinen first shares her personal story of how she consciously used her mind and trained her brain by means of meditations, affirmations and visualizations in order to become very relaxed and full of confidence while waiting for abdominal surgery. This special mental preparation has lead to extraordinary results after her operation.
This will lead to discussing the dangerous effects of chronic stress and the scientific findings of the placebo-effect and nocebo-effect. The lecture will conclude with explaining how brain training by means of meditations, affirmations and visualizations has beneficial effects on your mental and physical health and why this is the case. There’s also time for a couple of exercises, for instance how you can stop the downward negative thinking spiral and a joint meditation and visualisation.
